Pronounced qiǔ (falling tone) in Guangyun, and pronounced jiǔ (rising tone) in Jiyun and Yunhui, with the same pronunciation as "jiù". Explained in Shuowen Jiezi as pounded and stir-fried rice and wheat. Also identical to the character "qiǔ". Explained in Shuowen Jiezi as stir-fried rice and wheat. Also explained in Pianhai as crumbs of dried rice. Pronounced yú (rising tone) in Jiyun, with the same pronunciation as "yōu" in the rising tone. The meaning is the same.
