Zi Collection, Middle Volume, Page 123, Entry 01 Pronounced ju (rising tone) and xin (level tone), with the sound the same as "jin" (level tone). It is the name of a type of bamboo. The "Compendium of Materia Medica" (Bencao) records: The bamboo plant has a hard body with short, dense nodes. Its form is round and straight, and its texture is tough and resilient. Its skin is as white as frost. Thick stalks are suitable for propping up boats, while thin ones can be used to make flutes. When collecting bamboo sap, its roots and leaves can both be used as medicine. Also in the "Jiyun," pronounced ji (level tone) and yin (falling tone), with the sound the same as "jin" (level tone). The meaning is the same.
