Pronounced jian (falling tone). The "Tang Yun" notes the pronunciation as zi lian qie, and the "Ji Yun" notes it as jiang lian qie. "Shuowen Jiezi" explains it as the meaning of cutting off. "Guang Yun" explains it as piercing, or referring to a sharp intention.
Also, the "Ji Yun" records it as a type of agricultural tool.
