Guangyun (Guangyun) and Jiyun (Jiyun) use the characters "居" (jū) and "之" (zhī) for fanqie, pronounced "jī". Shuowen Jiezi (Shuowen Jiezi) explains it as a tool used to scrape nits. The character "比" (bǐ) is the same as "篦" (bì). Yangzi's Fangyan (Fangyan) records that "编䇫" (biān lán), also called "比䇫" (bǐ lán). Pianhai (Pianhai) explains that this is a grooming tool that can be used to scrape nits and lice.
