Pronounced huo. Meaning: many.
Zhang Heng, Western Capital Rhapsody (Xijing Fu) writes: Roasted and grilled in abundance. Sometimes also written in a variant form.
Yang Xiong, Dialect (Fangyan) states: Whenever things are numerous and grand, in the border regions of Qi and Song, this is called huo. Currently, in the Wu region dialect, many is called huo, and asking how many is called ji huo.
Also, in common parlance, people who contribute capital together to operate a business are called huoji.
Also pronounced mai. Records of the Grand Historian (Shiji), Biography of Chen She, records: Many indeed! How deep and grand are the royal halls of She! People in the Chu region call many huo, which is why people throughout the world spread this term. Annotation: Shen shen is the appearance of palaces and buildings being deep and vast.
