Zi Collection, Upper Volume, Page 7, Entry 02 Radical: Bird (niǎo) The character is the same as "huang" (凰). It was originally written as "huang" (皇). In "Odes of Shu" (Shu Du Fu) by Yang Xiong, there is "qu huang" (鸲䳨). "When the phoenix cries, it is on the high mountain ridge" — Book of Odes (Shijing), "Greater Odes of the Kingdom," "Da Ya." The commentary on "she huang di" (設皇邸) in "Spring Officials, Official in Charge of Ranks" (Chun Guan, Zhang Ci) in "Rites of Zhou" (Zhou Li) states: "Huang yu" (皇羽) are used to cover the backboard of the residence. "Huang yu" are made by dyeing them the color of phoenix feathers. It also refers to the name of a palace. "Huang yi" (䳨仪) is found in "Annals of Liu Cong" (Liu Cong Zai Ji) in "Book of Jin" (Jin Shu).
