Kangxi Dictionary

Zi Collection, Page Position: Upper Radical: Feather (yǔ) Page 123, Entry 01 Pronounced huang. From "Guangyun," "Jiyun," "Yunhui," and "Zhengyun." In "Shuowen Jiezi," it refers to a musical dance where a head covering decorated with feathers is used. Also used interchangeably with "huang." "Zhou Li - Diguan - Wushi" describes the "huang dance," leading dancers in a ritual to pray for rain and end drought. The commentary states that the "huang dance" is dancing while covering oneself with feathers. In texts, it is sometimes written as "䍿" and sometimes as "义." Also, from "Jiyun," pronounced wang. The meaning is the same.
