Tang Rhymes (Tangyun): Pronounced hun. Explaining Characters (Shuowen): A plow with six prongs. Another interpretation is the curved wood on a plow, specifically the plow beam. Also in Collected Rhymes (Jiyun): Pronounced gun. The meaning is the same. Also in Wide Rhymes (Guangyun), Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), and Dictionary of Rhymes (Yunhui): Pronounced hui. Sometimes also written in a variant form (wei). It is a wooden peg. Er Ya (Erya): A wooden peg inserted into a wall is called a hui. It is also a tool for hanging clothing. Book of Rites (Liji): One does not dare hang clothing on the husband's hui-yi (wooden stand for hanging clothes). Guo Pu commentary: The vertical piece is called hui, the horizontal piece is called yi; they are items of the same type. Also in Collected Rhymes (Jiyun): Pronounced jun. The meaning is the same.
