Rhyme Compilation (Yunhui): The character for dawn is written as 曶 in ancient texts.
History of the Former Han (Qianhan Shu), Biography of Sima Xiangru: In the dim and hazy darkness, one is able to manifest in the brilliance of light.
Commentary: 曶 refers to the early morning. Note that it is different from characters under the Radical: Say (yuē). The character form is based on the radical Sun, and its meaning is the same as the character for sudden (hū). This specific character is based on the radical Sun. The Collection of Characters (Zihui) states that it is the same as the character for sudden (hū), which is incorrect.
