Pronounced fei (falling tone). Broadly Elegant (Guangyun), Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), and Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun). According to Refined Observations (Boya), it means to dry in the sun. According to Master Yang’s Dialects (Fangyan), drying in the sun is the term used in the regions of Yang and Chu to mean drying objects. According to Master Lie (Liezi), Zhou Mu Wang section, the wine was not yet clarified, and the side dishes were not yet dried. According to Categorized Chapters (Leipian), some versions write it as a variant form (hui).
