Zi Collection, Middle Volume. Radical: Person (rén). fèi. Kangxi stroke count: 10. Page 106, number 18. According to the Collected Rimes (Jiyun), the fanqie pronunciation is derived from fù and fèi, sounding like fěi. It means to ruin or defeat, and also to go against or turn one's back on. Do not harbor resentment, do not turn your back on virtue — Records of the Grand Historian (Shiji), House of the Three Kings (Sanwang Shijia). The commentary Seeking the Obscure (Suoyin) states: Do not let the King turn his back on virtue.
