Pronounced fēn (falling tone), same as "fēn". Means "sheaves of grain". This is a dialect of Guanzhong. Zhengzitong states: Sheaves of grain are bundles of grain stalks. Guanzi, Chapter Lizheng, records: Even in years of severe drought, there are still harvested grain stalks. Liu Ji's commentary states: Harvested grain stalks mean the same as harvested grain. Another saying is "fēn sè", referring to limited grain crops.
