Pronounced dāng hóu (level tone) in the "Tang Yun," "Ji Yun," "Yun Hui," and "Zheng Yun."
"Shuowen Jiezi" explains: "Dōu móu" refers to a helmet. The character's form is composed of "" and a simplified "ér," resembling the shape of a human head.
Also, the "Yun Hui" records: "Huān Dōu" is the name of one of the "Four Evils." The ancient script version of "Shang Shu" writes it as "鴅吺."
Furthermore, the character "dōu" can also be used interchangeably with "tóu." The "Huān Tóu Country" mentioned in the "Shan Hai Jing," with annotations explaining it refers to "Huān Dōu," a minister of Yao.
Note: "Sòng Jǐnggōng Tóu Mán" in the "Shiji - Nianbiao" is written as "Dōu Luán" in the "Hanshu - Gujin Renbiao."
