According to Tang Rhymes (Tangyun) and Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun), pronounced dong (level tone). According to Collected Rhymes (Jiyun) and Rhyme Collection (Yunhui), pronounced dong (level tone).
Name of a river. According to Explaining Graphs and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen), the Dong River originates at Mount Fajiu and flows into the Yellow River.
Also, according to Literary Expositor (Erya), in the section Explaining Heaven (Shitian), a torrential rain is called a dong. The commentary notes that in the region east of the Yangtze River, a summer torrential rain is called a dong rain.
Also, according to Jade Chapters (Yupian), longdong describes the appearance of dew. Another source states it describes being soaked or drenched.
Also, kedong is the name of a plant. According to Materia Medica (Bencao), coltsfoot is also called kedong.
