"Tongsuwen" states that the finer type of "xū" is called "tǎo". "History of the Later Han Dynasty - Biography of the Western Regions" mentions that Tianzhu (India) produces fine cloth and good "tǎo". The note explains that it is a woven mat made of hair. It is also written as "tǎo". "Old Yuefu" mentions "wǔ mù xiāng". "Leipian" describes "tǎo" as the appearance of withered feathers.
