According to Collected Rimes (Jiyun) and Treasury of Rimes (Yunhui), the pronunciation is du (level tone). Dúchú refers to what is currently known as a spider. According to Sub-commentary on the Erya (Erya Shu), the Regional Languages (Fangyan) states: The zhūmáo (spider) is called dúchú in the region between Northern Yan and the Choson Lishui River.
