In the Extended Rhymes (Jiyun), it is noted that this was originally written as dong, with the grass radical added in common usage. Rhapsody on the Capital of Wu (Wudu Fu) mentions the dongfeng and fuliu plants. According to the Record of Guangzhou (Guangzhou Ji), there is a dongfeng vegetable. Also pronounced dong. The meaning is the same.
