Zhuangzi (Master Zhuang): Those who flee into the void, their paths of weasels and badgers are blocked by stalks of goosefoot and knotweed.

Commentary: The shang-diao is red and resembles the goosefoot.
Also, in the Book of Odes (Shijing), Greater Odes: The violet and sow thistle taste like candy.
Sub-commentary: The Guangya (Expanded Elegance) says that violet is the same as diao; people in the region of the Three Prefectures still speak this way.
