From Broad Rhymes (Guangyun) and Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is pronounced da.
According to Explanation of Writing and Analyzing Characters (Shuowen), it means a small lamb. Pronounced like da. According to Jade Chapters (Yupian), it means to be born. Also, according to Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), it is used interchangeably with da. In the Book of Odes (Shijing), Great Odes section: "When her months had come to an end, she gave birth to a son, as if it were a lamb." The Commentary (Zhuan) says: da means to be born. The Explanation of Sounds (Shiwen) says: Zheng Xuan notes it means a lamb. Also, according to Extensive Dictionary of Refinements (Guangya), it means beautiful.
