Qiéhé (falling tone) in the "Qieyun" (Qieyun). Cāihé (rising tone) in the "Jiyun" (Jiyun), "Yunhui" (Yunhui), and "Zhengyun" (Zhengyun). Pronounced cuō (level tone). "Shuowen Jiezi" (Shuowen Jiezi) explains it as uncultivated fields. Quoted from the "Book of Odes" (Shijing), "Xiaoya" (Xiaoya) section: "The heavens are now sending pestilence." Note: Current editions of the "Book of Odes" (Shijing) write this character as chái. Also, in the "Jiyun" (Jiyun), the pronunciation is given as zīxié (rising tone), with the same pronunciation as jiē. The meaning is the same.
