According to the Jade Chapters (Yupian), the term cu-li refers to a skin disease. In the Zuo Commentary (Zuo Zhuan), it is said: "This refers to the fact that they do not suffer from the disease of cu-li." The sub-commentary explains: "Cu-li is a minor ailment of livestock; cu refers to the appearance of a type of mange, while li refers to a type of green-colored ringworm." Also, according to the Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), the pronunciation is zu. The meaning is the same.
