Zi Collection, Middle Volume. Radical: Knife (dāo). Page 145, Entry 03. According to the Sound Rhymes (Jiyun), the character for prick is commonly written in the variant form 㓨. In the Records of the Grand Historian (Shiji), specifically the Book of the Feng and Shan Sacrifices (Fengshan Shu), it is recorded that the erudite scholars and students were asked to prune the Six Classics to create the Royal Regulations. The commentary explains that 㓨 is written as prick, meaning to extract or select.
