It is also the name of a prefecture. According to the Comprehensive Records of the World (Guangyu ji), it belonged to Jiujiang Commandery during the Qin Dynasty; in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, it was called Nanqiao; during the Northern Qi Dynasty, it was called Beiqiao; and during the Sui, Tang, and Song dynasties, it was called Chuzhou.
