Jiyun (Collection of Rhymes) and Leipian (Classified Dictionary) state that it is pronounced qiu. The meaning is to be upright. The Grand Mystery (Taixuanjing) by Yangzi says: A noble person establishes a family through marriage, maintains a cautious attitude toward marriage, is steadfast at the beginning, and enjoys peace thereafter. The commentary states: A woman is referred to as gui. Qiu means to be upright. When the way of men and women is upright, the family is at peace. Gui is pronounced xi.
