It is the name of a lake. In the Annals of Emperor Ming of the Later Han (Hou Hanshu), it is recorded that Lake Jiao produces gold. The commentary notes that it is located in the present-day Hefei County of Luzhou. It is also written in a variant form (chao). According to Jiyun, Yunhui, and Zhengyun (Correct Rhymes), it is also pronounced chao (second tone). The meaning is the same. According to Jiyun, it is also pronounced suo (third tone).
