Shuowen Jiezi (Shuōwén Jiězì) states: "This was the enfeoffed land of Lord Xing in the State of Jin." In Zuo Commentary (Zuǒzhuàn), Duke Xiang, 26th Year: "Yongzi fled to the State of Jin, and the people of Jin gave him the land of Chù." Also used as a surname. Guangyun (Guǎngyùn) states: "During the Han dynasty, there was a Grand Administrator of Donghai named Chù Xī." Also, according to Guangyun and Jiyun, pronounced xù.
