According to the Sound of Rhymes (Jiyun) and the Collection of Rhymes (Yunhui), the pronunciation is chu. Qu-chu is a bamboo mat. According to the Broad Rhymes (Guangyun), qu-chu is a type of reed. In the Regional Speech (Fangyan) by Yangzi, it is stated that a mat is sometimes called a qu-chu. Also, a coarse mat is called a qu-chu. It also refers to a physical deformity. In the Book of Odes (Shijing), it is written: the qu-chu is not fresh. In the Discourses of Jin (Jinyu), it is written: a qu-chu cannot be made to bow. According to the Collection of Oceanic Writings (Pianhai), qu-chu are woven into round granaries, resembling a person who is swollen and unable to bow, which is why it is used as a name for a physical deformity.
Textual research: In the Book of Odes (Shijing), the original text cited the Kingdom of Wei section; according to the original book, this has been corrected to the Kingdom of Bei section.
