According to Tang Rhymes (Tangyun), Collected Rhymes (Jiyun), Rhyme Compendium (Yunhui), and Correct Rhymes (Zhengyun), the pronunciation is the same as cha. It is a unit of measurement for quantity. According to the Ceremonial Rites (Yili), under the chapter on visiting rites: thirty carts of grain; each cart contains three zha; four handfuls of grain are called one ju; ten ju are called one zong; ten zong are called one zha; the total amount of grain from four hundred carts is equal to one zha.
It also refers to the name of a country. According to the Records of the Western Regions in the History of the Former Han (Qianhan Xiyuchuan): the country of Wuzha is nine thousand nine hundred and fifty li away from Chang'an.
