According to the Expanded Rhymes (Guangyun), an ominous bird with a white head and a red beak. In the Rhapsody on the Yangtze River (Jiang Fu) by Guo Pu, it is mentioned alongside the morning crane, the heavenly rooster, the yao, and the gull. In the Classic of Mountains and Seas (Shanhaijing), it is noted that on Dan Mountain there is a five-colored bird with a human face and hair, which includes the blue yuan and the yellow ao.
