Shuowen Jiezi (Shuowen) defines this as arrogant. It is used interchangeably with the character for proud. It also describes a vigorous or robust appearance. Han Yu in his Poem Recommending Scholars writes, Phrases are firm and traverse the void, arranged skillfully with powerful force. It is also used as a name. The son of Han Zhuo, who was very strong and capable of navigating a boat on land. In the Analects of Confucius (Lunyu), it is written that Ao moved a boat by dragging it. According to the Zongyao, it is composed of elements meaning following and great. The element for great adopts the meaning of high and looking up. The common form is incorrect.
