Zi Collection, Upper Volume, Page 43, Entry 01 Radical: Water (shuǐ) Pronounced pān Meaning: Refers to the swirling of water. It is also used interchangeably with the character "pān." The character in the phrase "zhǐ shuǐ zhī pān wèi yuān" (止水之䆺为渊) from "Zhuangzi: Ying Di Wang" (Zhuangzi: Ying Di Wang) carries this same meaning. "Zihui Bu" (Zihui Bu) points out that this character differs from the character "shěn." Current editions mistakenly write it as "shěn."
